They don't need caves it's not a necessity ... They can get in or behind plants or behind drift wood for cover

Personally I think there should be some place to hide. Otherwise fish stressed out and go nuttz

Yeah of course and I did have other places as well but it was a mistake that worked in my favor. When I put the piece back in he didn't seem as desperate to hide.

My ornate just hide hide hide and hide

Definitely in the beginning to help em acclimate but all my polys so far hid and started to patrol the tank later on.
