Very nice Peter. I've always wanted to do a discus tank, but have never made the plunge. One day :)....

Thanks! :) I really hate the blue background but there's nothing I can do about it...

I have dark thin (1/2") 3D backgrounds in 30" panels that connect, sink and can be installed with magnets in an established tank. Drop me a PM if you want some details, it would only take about 20 mins to install ;) The tank and discus look great. I like the wood you have mounted. I tried it with bird perches but could never get the look "just right" for what I wanted.

3D background in your future? :)

Look good, even if they're flat fish. ;)

I'd love to! But there's very little room in the tank for 3D :(

Another nice stock! I like Discus and think that their colors and patterns are wonderful. These should look even better with time and care. Good job!

Remember, a dark background isn't always beneficial with discus. ;)

Those wilds do have potential. If they're already showing the nice orange/golden color, they should look even better when they get comfortable. They'll love your soft water, too. That will go a long way in helping the colors pop.

very nice and peaceful. i like it

Thanks guys :) I got some "bad" influences from a couple of local club members and it just took off all of a sudden.

Sounds great! Sending you an email now :)

Nice! You gonna start breeding so we can get some more tolerant CBs off you? If so sign me up for the first batch of fry!

Thanks :) It's going to be hard to get either the discus or the angels to breed...just for looking really. What are CBs?

Nice

This is the tank the brokos used to be in. How are they doing - did you get fry?

Captive bred.

I'm not gonna try wilds but I would take the leap with some captive bred from a trusted breeder

I'd actually recommend getting wilds directly. From what I heard and IME so far, they are fairly hardy fish. I highly recommend John (snookn21) and Mark Chen (discusorigin on simplydiscus.com).

Wilds aren't any different than domestics if you get them from a source that has properly acclimated them. They are easily adapted to most water conditions. The only thing you need to worry about is water quality, so keep up the water changes. Discus are really sensitive to nitrates and DOCs compared to other cichlids.

I really like your set up, and was wondering the tank dimensions and how many gallons ? I'm currently building a new 240 gal tank to move my discus into and was hoping to have a similar look to your tank.
