I'm not a Rapala Guy by any means. I use them just to give the fish a better chance.;)

I've caught most of my PB catches on Mirrolure Twitchbaits, floaters as well as the sinking ones. This year I've switched to the sinking ones. I used the floaters in very shallow waters, waters less than a foot deep. But I have learned to use the sinkers in any water depth. I use the Mirrolures when I want a sure hookup.

I've started using the Rapalas more this year, after I've surpassed my catch total for last year of 108 PBs.

Don't know about nightcrawlers and PB, but shad might work as well as live shiners when I made a comment that live bait should be banned.

So are P-Bass everywhere in Florida?

do you use a bass boat or from shore?

PBs are only in South Florida where they can survive the winters.

108 was last year. I'm up to 120 already this year. Posted a picture of # 119 and # 120 earlier today. Pictures of the ones less than 17 inches are on this thread. All 96 of them so far. The others are in a sticky thread in the Peacock Bass Section.

I catch all my PBs in my backyard lake. No motorized boats are allowed, so I catch all my fish from shore.

I don't use live baits for PBs. I don't need to. My favorite live bait is shrimp for Saltwater fishing.

They(PBs) were introduced in South Florida to control the invasive non-native cichlids. Any tropicals you've seen in LFS can probably be found here, too.:(

from a LAKE?? you probably caught every single one of them then..
is it HUGE..or fed from a river or something??

haha, it was in clear lake, CA but my friend caught a HUUUUGE red-bellied Pacu last year..will upload pics. if he sends them to me. Can they survive the winter, since there are other lakes around here that had(or have) pacu in it.

Our lake have 7 miles of fishable shoreline fed from the sky, and Pacus are there too. Pics of them are in the Pacu thread in the Photo Lounge.

Caught two earlier today but the last one, a monster male of 20 inch, managed to hook me in the hand and spent two hours at the emergency hospital. Couldn't get the hook out myself. It took a Doctor, two nurses, and a very muscular technician to get it out of my hand.

It hurt only when I attempted to take it out myself. Used a plier to crimp the barb and a hack saw on the base of the hook. Decided it was getting too painful and had the wife drive me to the emergency hospital.

Actually, the antibiotic/tetanus shot in the butt/arm was more painful and the 10 injections of local anesthesia was more intense than the actual pain from the hook.

Gotta run to buy the antibiotic prescription.
