Hey guys thanks for the uplifting words! Yes its the jingle rock song in the background haha it is the season isnt it ?
hmmm the small guys dont get eaten because i think i let the big guys get used to small feeders as food. A big 14 inch cichla would just be turned off in eating a small 8 incher and be hassled and choked just trying to get the fish in his mouth when they are all being fed hundreds of small feeders every other day
when i introduce small cichla though, i usually put the fish in after feeding time. And then to avoid aggression i dont turn the light on for about two days until the small one is fully acclimated, those little stuff i do just for precaution and fortunately it has been working perfect. the tank is ten feet long and 4 feet high i think, i dont keep track sorry, But its amazing with this size tank, when you introduce a small cichla, say 7 inches, to a group of sub adults, the small one would naturally try to follow or be part of the pack that its normal that the small one would stretch to an inch or two in a span of 1-2 weeks...
Will i recommend putting smaller cichla with bigger cichla and to just follow my regimen when introducing the fish? Hmmmmm... As miklo said... "life's a risk, carnal"
