Lava Sand

I received a 50lb bag of lava sand with a bunch of fish stuff I picked up has anyone used it before? I was wondering if it would be a good substitute for red garnet?

Havent seen any lava sand, do you have a pic of the actual sand?

no I don't I can try and get a pic of it tomorrow. I know it is generally used in planted tanks, my big worry is it would be an irritant to my bichirs and eels

If thr grith is big it might but if its fine like sand it shouldnt.

Would pass as this stuff can alter pH depending on what’s in it. Never used but not willing to risk using it.

It’s bigger than playsand and smaller than lfs sand.

Depends on the chemicals in it then it may do either.

well that sucks my understanding was it was just crushed lava rocks which I use as bio-media
