Ever have a Pleco that just isnt worth a darn? just sits in one spot and you wonder how he is still alive if he doesnt move around? i have a 2" Royal that never seems to leave the corner of the tank. yet he has wonderful markings.

then there is the pleco that never sits still. always running around keeping your tank spotless (or close to it). i just got a 5-6" royal pleco and he is amazing! he has only been in there for 2 days and the tank looks so much better.

anyone else notice these variations?

Each individual pleco has its own personality. I dont think plecos should be in a tank for just cleaning purposes. ;)

:iagree:
royal plecos are much more than just a clean up fish. They should have a specialized and vaired diet just like all other fish.

i didnt say that i dont feed them! the small one wont move to eat so he eats when he wants to and that is mainly algae. the bigger one get waffers....flakes....brine shrimp and blood worms. i use my syphon tube to allow the food to sink to the bottom and not get eaten by the others.

and my plecos arent just for clean up....that is a good reason to have them but the are beautiful fish also.

i was just stating that some plecos dont clean anything and others go crazy and clean everything!

DONT PICK ON ME!!!!!!!!!!

yea, ive had plecos that hide, and some that come out all the time, each animal is its own i guess. some you can hand feed, some will run away from your hand. my current gibby is the most active ive ever had, ive had one that did nothing for three years, and one that would come out now and again if you were very still.

I know my Bristlenose is amazingly active, she manages to keep my 125 completely spotless!

Yea i have a pair of bristal nose that don't do any thing. And then i have another pleco that just goes insane and is all over the tank. Its crazy how difrent they are.
