i have a 250 gallon mini pond in the backyard, and it is under 3 trees. all the leaves blow in it, and it gets nasty reallllly quick. how can i fix this? are there any fish that would eat the leaves? i live in wisconsin so the pond only is up in the summer. if it were a tropical fish (say a pleco) i could keep it indoors in the winters. but is there any like substance that i can put into the pond? because the tannins from the leaves stain it real quick....

1. Move the pond.....pita.
2. Chop the trees down.....even bigger pita.
3. Put a net over your pond as suggested.....EASY!

Having a net over an outside pond is common practice anyway to protect the fish against herons and such. So a net will protect your fish and catch the leaves, happy days.

My uaru used to eat any kind of plant clippings, including leaves. Endless salad bar under that tree. Just have to monitor temps and bring them in to a big enough tank when it’s too cold.
