so i am getting a leaf fsh at petsmart. the one i want is like an inch long. they are super cool but i want tto know more about the tank requirments? like do they need lots of plant cover, gravel, etc? and i need to know the absaloute smallest tank i could get and have my fis healthy? please help. this is the type of fish

Prey is sucked in when the fish opens its large mouth. These fish have the ability to change colors, so they can camouflage with their surroundings. Take care when disrupting tank furnishings, as this species is very nervous.

Anyone can google it's true and anyone can use the search function, but can I ask a question? What's the purpose of this site? Last time I looked this was a Forum not a data base. Seems more and more people find fault for other people asking questions. I thought the purpose was to exchange information and personal experiences. A venue to share and help those less experienced. Why then do people only seem to think it's okay when they ask a question, but if somebody else does the same person says use Google or the search function. We're supposed to help not belittle people for lack of knowledge or act superior. Not meant to derail, but I'm just saying I'm sure something more useful than that could have been said. To the OP sorry I have no personal experience with the fish in question. If I did I would have been more than glad to help.

30 gallon minimum; I believe they max out at around 6". No, they don't really need anything special for their setup, although I would include some plants to provide a place for it to hide.

They aren't very picky when it comes to water conditions just as long as it's clean and you do your water changes. I would either go with some taller plants or driftwood so they don't feel so exposed at the size your getting. I would recommend you get a few as they like the company of other bushfish. They will learn to eat almost all prepared foods. You don't see to many over 5", once they hit about 3" they tend to slow down in the growth department. They will eat anything that can fit in their mouth so be careful with tank mates. You can keep them in a tank as short as 24" but bigger is always better for aesthetics and fish in the long run. They can have a bit of a problem with fungus when smaller but any good anti fungal medication will work.

i had one and he was great! it loved blood worms and got alone great with a dino bichir and pictus catfish but sadly it died about 4 mounths ago. but they love places to hide and not a lot of light

I agree! Same thing happened to me, and it pisses me off, this forum was made for people to help people, not to re-direct them.
To OP, I had one for about a year, I fed mine bloodworms, try not to get them on guppies cause they will go insane over them... Overall mine was a nice little peaceful fish.
