Leak in my Fish Room

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thank you. And yes. Fish are my retreat. The rest of my family are pretty normal and good relations. Just mom is bat sh** crazy lol. Plus all the horrible crap I see at work... Couldn't survive without fish. I can get lost in a glass box or staring into a pond

Same here.
Ugh, I already miss my pond being up and running. I still go out and sit to watch them, but it’s harder to see with the leaf net on. I hate that winter is basically already here. I don’t think I could survive winter without fish tanks. Lol

I've kinda derailed my own thread here but i just wanted to say my dad is going to be ok.... Relatively... He has not suffered any loss of mobility or speach but he has lost all vision in his left eye. Drs say it will not return. Thru the course of testing, they've found he has had several smaller strokes that previously had gone unnoticed and untreated. My dad has several health issues and probaly has few yrs left but he is still with us for now.

oh man glad to hear he still around. wish him all the best and a speedy recovery. I was informed myself here a few mnths ago about a leaky valve in my aorta and am myself rite now a high risk for strokes and heart attacks. im on a pretty long waiting list for surgery here. goes to show how precious time really is after all. enjoy every minute with our loved ones and our fish!!!

Doesn't help any, but it certainly could be much worse. My mom had a brain stem stroke that left her unable to do anything other than barely move her eyes and blink. So at least he's still functional.

I hope they can move the list along and you can get the surgery you need soon. Also hope you suffer nothing worse in the mean time.

Thank you, everyone, for the well wishes. I don't share very many deeply personal things but I am more appreciative than I am able to adequately express.

For this reason I advice you always have something to clean up water and something to fix a tank. I'd been watching a podcast for aquarium co-op and he said that he had a 340 gallon tank break and he said his lesson learned is to always have something to clean up water because it will happen at some point or another.

My fish room floor slopes so that everything drains on its own and the dry wall doesn't meet the floor. concrete and center block base. A leak is inconvenient but not a catastrophe. I also keep extra tanks, sealant, equipment... Referbing old tanks is as much a hobby for me as keeping fish. I agree that anyone keeping several tanks and especially large ones needs be prepared for stuff like this.

I dont have pics of the stand right now but I got it painted. All that's left is to install the second shelf, cabinet it in and do the trim and decorative crap.

Picked up the stuff this evening to remove that old paint off the back and side and will fully repaint the back of the tank. ...as soon as time allows.

I started the hide build. Its not finished and dont have pics right now because i have not sat still all day and now I'm at work lol. Here's hoping I don't fall asleep while I'm looking into a microscope tonight... Gave my self a black eye like that once before. Not fun to explain. People look at me like I'm covering up abuse lol.

Sorry to hear about your father and the leak, but on a positive note your build looks great . I like the pots for the plants I’m going to have to borrow that idea. Thank god for those glass boxes they keep up all sane, I get lost in my tanks every day.

Thinking of incorporating something like these decorative thingies into the stand build. Stand is built and the dam thing is black. No going back now. But I was thinking of breaking up all this black with stained wood accents. What y'all think? 20181108_172116.jpg 20181108_172058.jpg
