I recently lost my "wet pet" (11" Texas hybrid) and am considering stocking angels in my 125g but I have a few questions. First, I have a FX 5 with dual power heads. If I turn the out down to 50% or so will that still be too much flow for the angels? Second, I also want 3-5 clown loaches for the bottom of the tank. Have any of you successfully housed both angels and clowns? Lastly, how many angels should I get for my 125 if I do get 3-5 clowns? I will be buying all of them as juveniles. Any other suggestions and advise is welcomed. Thank you!

FX5 is fine for angels. Maybe reduce the flow or angle it to the glass if you can until they are adults.
Angels & clowns are fine together.
3-5 clowns is fine, they grow really slow. You might have to rehome a couple when they get larger, but that will be a couple years.
If you are buying juvie angels, get more that you think you'll need and cull/rehome the ones you don't like. I'd probably buy around 12-15 and cut that down to 8-10 as they become adults. Good luck & post pics.

I don't think you would be overstocked if you wanted to add a shoal of small growing tetras to that mix as well. Cards/neons or harlequin rasboras would do fine.

I think the FX5 is ok as long as the flow isn't too strong. A 125 is good for about 8 adult anglefish. The CL will be fine with them but get really big, in few years you can sell them for $$$ and get smome more to grow out. As far as the small tetras go cardinal and neon's will be eatin by adult anglles tetras slightly larger work best IMO. Serpae Tetras work I have 25 in with my Wild Scalare but there are many others like Lemon, Colombia etc you just need a large group of about a dozen or so to prevent fin nipping. In a group tetras pay attention to each other and leave the rest of the fish in the tank alone.

I would plant the aquarium get 12-15 angels, a few schools of tetras, school of corydoras and 1-2 BN plecs or reduce the amount of angels and get some discus...

If you keep 8-10 you will get pairs. When they pair off your pairs will own certain areas of the tank. I have 8 in my 120 I got 3 pairs one pair owns the right side of the tank another pair owns the middle and I had to take out the 3rd pair as they were fighting over space. My other 2 that are not paired just hang around inbetween.

I keep angels and clowns together. When my clowns start their "dance" up and down the tank my juvenile angels just watch like what the heck are you doing. It is comical!

a 125 would be lovely with angels/discus/tetras/cory's although this is almost identical to my own set up
