Not a good idea because this will tempt you to take it out on walks in public and as we all know these guys are unpredictable....Just thinks when the little neighbor kid goes to pet him and gets his head ripped off. If you want to let him roam do it in your house and yard. You take him anywhere else keep him in YOUR hands and don't let him take off anybody elses hands. JMHO

hey i walk my beardie on a leash as long as you have common sense enough not to walk a large monitor down the street a leash can be useful when you just have him in your house chances are if you want to bring him out when hes larger he,ll run a muck in your house so a leash is a good way to control him:D

Ive seen it done with iguana's. Doesnt look TOO bad, but I have no idea how a Nile would react.

Lol can just imagine walking a nile down the street and it eating someones small dog. It maybe useful in some situations, but i can't see there being much point in doing it IMO

I wonder what forums he is reading. I know one of the forums, which he go to as tokay_tamer, one of the posters has a thread with a 11-years old monitor sleeping on top of the guy.

Where did the Nile Monitor leash idea come from? Iguanas? Anyway... why keep it on a leash? You don't even know what temperament it will when it sexually mature.

Monitors can escape leashes. Ya it happend to me and I was looking in neighbours yards for my Steve, finaly found him, never doing that again. (and yes it was REALY tight on him)
