Least aggressive cichlid?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just got an 80 gal tank. I am picking up some Herichthys Pearseai and Chocolate Cichlid later this week. The herichthys Pearseai are 2 years old right now and about 6-8 inches right now (about I think!). The guy I am getting them from has some 3'' chocolate chilids in with them. So this will be my set up:

3 - herichthys pearseai
2- chocolate cichlid
Any other suggestions with what fish can go with these fish peacefully?

I was thinking a plecko of some sort. I don't know how much other fish I can fit. I don't want to overcrowd. Later, I am sure I will upgrade to a larger tank down the road.

This will be my first tank since the African frogs, beta fish and red ear slider i owned as a kid!

Chocolates
Green Chromides (peaceful even in pairs)
Pearseai
Geos
Rainbows
NOT Nicaraguans as some have suggested, it's really a crap shoot with those things. They can be real dicks...
Vieja Regani are BEAUTIFUL when full grown, and will almost always be the tank omega. Most peaceful vieja imo
Vieja Syns
Snooks are gentle giants, and peacock bass aren't uncommon with severum - but I think they may get a little larger than you're wanting.

You can go with ebjd a severum would easily handle one, I think people see the severum as a much bigger wimp than it is, they can hold there own with jacks, Oscars, even some docile Texas cichlids

Yeah my greens could mess up a EBJD if they really wanted to...

I've seen them at 1-2 inch range but I'm sure they probably get bigger but if that is there max size u will have one very full Oscar :D

Male festivum max out around 8" in optimal conditions. Females max at about 6". But I think the average aquarist sees males stop around 6" and females around 4-5". Too big for an Oscar, but would definitely get crushed if a full grown Oscar decided he/she didn't like them. I see festivum selling anywhere from 1-4" around here.

Stock list includes: 1 Andinoacara Stalsbergi (True Green Terror), 1 Heros SP Super Red Severum, 1 Gold Severum, 1 Placidochromis Phenochilus(Star Sapphire), 1 Vieja Synspilum(Fire Head), 1 Hypselecara Temporalis (Purple Chocolate),1 Microglanis Cf. Iheringi (Bumble Bee Cat), 1 Jack Dempsey. In a 125 gallon all these seem to be getting along just fine and make a very colorful stock
