The title pretty much says it all. I'd like to know, in your experience, which types of Vieja, in general, seem to be less aggressive than the others?

I've kept Syns, Bifa, Regani, Guttalatum& Faciatum

The Regani were The most laid back

Thats a tuff one. C.Carpintis are pretty docile. As C.A.s go. There are types that only fight with each other and leave other tank mates alone. C. Carpintis is one of them. Melanarus are pretty chill also.

I've never really been a huge fan of the Regani. I would like something with strong blues though. However, I have always wanted a bocourti I just want to make sure that I get it from quality stock.

I've found regani to be very aggressive in anything as small as a 150 gal tank, after I gave it away, it killed a much larger red devil, some carpintus and a couple jags.

Herichthys (xCichlasoma) bocourti and pearsei(not Vieja's) seem very mellow, but get very large, mine grew to over 15", so in the end, a very large tank would be needed.
I have also kept fenestratus, zonatus, bifas, argentea and maculicauda, and found them all to get aggressive in anything as small as a 150 at some point in their development.

The least aggressive Vieja for me has been breidhori, even when they spawned in a cichlid community,
there were no deaths.

I've found their aggression to be more bluff than bite.

Duanes: Thank you for the break down. I'm glad to hear from someone who's had experience with so many of the fish that I'm looking into. Would you have any suggestions as to what fish would make a good tankmate for my Syn?

Have you thought of Vieja Heteropilus, quite mild mannered and do not grow to huge proportions.

I have but from what I've seen, they don't have as much color as I would like.
