These types of threads are usually just trouble lol. People get butthurt when someone says something negative about their favorite fish. It's going to happen eventually
When i first started this hobby, there was a number of fish i didnt care for at all. but over the years i have started singing a different tune and have become interested and learned to appreciate most of the fish i thought were ugly or said id never own. I truly love this hobby and the fish in it. but for me my least favorite would be African cichlids.... and oscars-
I also have come to appreciate most every cichild except for the most generic types, Oscars, Convicts, GT's, P. scalare etc. Not to say I dislike the species I just find them mundane. I would love and plan to have some nice red tail bahia oscars and other wild strains, altums etc.
You know.....Now that I think about it, my tastes have changed dramatically since I got into the hobby.
I used to not like Haits, but now I'm all about them. Same with Grammodes, Trimacs, and Lyonsi. They're my favorites now, and I used to not like them at all.
Totally agree with your comment on the purpose of blood parrots! Ours has a tendency to keep the other aggressive fish in check, but could never do any real damage to them. I've also found that he's a good indicator of our water quality, all in all, kind of useful...having said that, the blood parrots with the hearts or flowers on them really freak me out!
Out of the ones i have sa/ca cichlids i have owned Jds are buitifull as hell but so so so so boring so that is my vote for least favortie. I was so sad when my 8 inch female passed but was glad to dust of my light and put it back on my tank and put my new 8 inch midas in there and not have a vampire that only moved around at night.
