I have a spare heater that pre heats for 24 hrs before adding to the tanlk

Yah if I had the space I would likely do it that way too. (IE get a garbage can, let the water sit for at least 24 hour, etc..) But well living in an apartment you have to give up the space somewhere.

i do that with an extra 29gal to get the hardness up for a tropheus! it works great for heating water for w/c and treating ph before puttning it in the tanks for dicus ect.

I don't have a lot of space either, it just sits in the corner in the living room, very art deco :(

I have a bathroom on the other side of the wall behind my tank and I ran a hose through the wall. I just attach the siphon to the faucet and drain the tank down then turn on the hot and cold to set temp and fill it back up, I treat with half dose of Prime straight into the tank at the beginning of fill and other half when almost done. I also have a temp probe attached to the fill line in the tank so I can adjust water temp as needed.
I may add that I have valves at both ends and the tank sits higher than the sink so to drain most of the time I just open the valves and off it goes and If I do loose prime all I need to do is turn on the faucet till it is going.

i use .5" diameter tubing to suck it out

i use 6gph with air line tubing drip for my planted tank!

i will let the buckets sit out for a day or two to warm up, because i dont wanna use hot water then the water softener kicks in! so i will hang the buckets up on an old hanging plant hook above my tank and siphon the water out at aroun 6gal per hour! this doesnt mix up the substrate keeps water at a more stable temp for my cories and otos!
