When i feed my black piranha it usually doesnt finish the feeder fish, it usually eats half of it. Do i keep the dead feeder fish in the tank so he can finish it the next day because each day he takes a little more off of the dead carcass. Would leaving the feeder fish be bad for the tank and the piranha? :feedback:

hey man remove them dead animals cause ammonia, likse stated above and if they dont finish them then they oprolly dont want them....

You should not leave it for more than a hour or so or it starts to rot, try smaller feeders.

My rbp's swallow feeder fish whole but comets he can only eat half and then the nitrate levels in my tank go really high that is how i have lost a couple.

You know... This is about the only thing that snails are good for IMO, taking care of dead fish. But you still have to watch your amonia levels.

i'd suggest like othes did to get smaller feeder fish and see how that goes. Your tank will stink if u keep it in long enough. plus amo etc like everybody else has stated

When I used to keep piranhas, I always fed with guppies because they have to do more work to catch food (good for viewing) and they always finish it in 1 bite. Only drawback is the price. I feed with comets when I have a group of Ps that can finish the job.
