anyone have advice on what's the best / most professional way to leave your job?
i think i'm like 99% sure i am gonna go ahead with this and just leave things behind here.
the job market really sucks, but i'm gonna go get my head cleared... it's driving me mad...

try to leave on a good note and keep the company/supervisors as a good reference.... kinda like breaking up with a girl and the "still be friends" deal

now is not the time to be quitting a job.. i understand being frustrated and things not being entirely clear. but jobs are TOUGH to come by now, my son has been unemployed since last summer. He's a bus driver.. there is usually a high demand for bus drivers, not so much anymore.

but that being said.. the best way is to give 2 weeks, or 30 days notice (depending on what you actually do for a living) and don't get short timer's disease. keep on working just as hard and working like you are still planning on being there tomorrow. Employers remember that kinda stuff. And ask your supervisors for letters of reference for when you decide to go back to work.

And is you HAVE to quit, dont quit until you've found the next job. Or else next thing you know, your "break" turns into being unemployed for 2 years...

Is there any way you can take a leave of absence? If you just sat your boss down and were honest and to the point? Like Camshaft said-now's not the time to be quitting your job. Sometimes we have to suck it up and plod through even though we want to give up & it's killing us. It's called maturity.
