LED Advice

Thanks! And really cool:D I see a lot of nice diy set ups out. Id love to build something out of the fixtures I already have, Im just not confident in wiring it myself and then putting it on top of some water lol! A DIY LED thread would be nice! ;)
 
After my dear ol'hubby gets it up and going and with everything I want I'll start a thread on it ;)

Well another week has gone by. The last thing I did was change the bulbs in my fixtures, T12 to T8.
I also added some root tabs.
While my Java Fern looks better and greener and my Anubias looks like it has doubled in size and looks great, my other plants look like they have continued to deteriorate. I don't even know if my Amazon sword and Vals are even alive anymore, they haven't grown or really done anything. My Wisteria started out fine, then grew some brown algae on the leaves, it looks like I see new leaves, but my Severum is constantly pruning :/
Even my Anacharis looks pretty dookie. I think I'm just going to add the LEDs in a few days. Any suggestions?
 
Try Finnex. I have both Ray2 and Planted+ on my planted 40b. They work great and not too bad on price as far as LEDs go. You probably might need the Ray2 since you have a tall tank.

Nah, planted + would be fine if the aim is low tech and only mediumish light. RayII is higher end medium by itself, almost going into high, even with a tank that tall. The company has PAR data for their fixtures over on another forum but its easily google-able.
 
Thanks guys. I was offered a 48" Current Satellite LED for a $80 at my lfs. I was thinking about that one. At 24" it's supposed put out 21 micromoles, Im not sure what my T8s are putting out. IF my ballasts are up to it, each should put out around 25 (also at 24"), considering their age and the current state of my plants, Im not sure. Assuming everything is working right, I should be at <70. Does this sound right? I don't plan running all 3 fixtures all the time.

I'm running the 48" satellite on my 120 and it does fine on its own
