"The shimmering effect is really cool. Now if I can only figure out how to have it change angles all day long like the real Sun I will be golden!"

Check out a DMX-programmable controller. It will allow you to control each LED individually & you can just program them to dim up one-by-one all the way across, then dim down the same way throughout the day. I know Acclaim makes a good one, but check around online for other brands...

Sweet~! I'll do that on the next retrofit. My other 3 foot 2x96w CF fixture by Coralife may be the next project unless I can find some sweet aluminum 'c' bars. I like that simple look.

My father found some under-the-counter LED light strips that we retrofitted on my canopy of my 75 gallon saltwater tank. They work fantastically compared to the old florescent fixtures I was using before. I currently have 2 4 ft. bright white strips (holding 25 LEDs each strip) mounted in series with power supply. I am planning on adding 2 more strips of blue probably. I will have to get pics up for people to see :).

Definitely post some pics. The only down side to those are they are expensive and they don't have near the output of the build you see here. I'm curious, you doing a FOWLER or Reef tank?

Man. I just got done replacing a regular ballast in my fluorescents. I was proud of myself, until I saw this thread, now I know I need to step it up with my electric. Thanks for the ideas and good luck.

I did the same thing in my 150 gal tank. Had 4 65w CF's running off 2 double ballasts. Each ballast had 1 side out. (frickin Current). So I bought 1 more double to replace the 2 halves. I'm sure they will burn out again within a year. I saw this thread 2 weeks later. DOH!:irked:

Guys... Awesome projects... How many of these badboys do you think I would need for a 24" deep 120g planted? Right now I have 550watts over it and my elec bill is through the roof!

I would say 4 times what I did. I think you would need 4 times the coverage that I'm getting on my 125g.

Hey Neo, can you help me with the dimmer circuit? Which Pot to buy and how where to put it in the circuit?
Thanx,
