LED lighting - what are my options?

REVIVE! :D

So I just got a 72x30x24" and am looking in to lighting. I have a canopy with this tank so hiding those ugly spotlights is no issue. I don't need a TON of light, but would like a decent amount. Would 4x of the 10w lamps be enough? Should I go with 2x 20w lamps? Or more? Anyone tried anything different now that's it's been a couple months?

I would think you would need more than 4 10's but I don't have any myself. I'm about to order 4 10's to play with and 2 30's to try on my 8x2x2. I'm think I might run 4 30's on that tank but I'm going to see how 2 looks and go from there.

Sorry, but I have a naive newbie question:

Any suggestions on what might you use on a tank that measures 96" X 18" X 14" ?

How high would you put the light over the water?

Would you wire them in parallel or series configuration...or just plug them in separately? This would be for a rimless aquarium. I'd have to find a way of dealing with all the wiring.

Thanks!

It really depends on what your needs are. If you just have fish, then 4 or 5 of the 20 watts would do very well. If you want plants, you might need another unit or two. I assume 14" is the height of the tank?
Mine are all wired independently and plugged into a power bar that runs to a timer. I assume you could wire them all together, but that's beyond my abilities.

James, thanks for the response. The tank is in the planning stage. I have the stand built. Yes, it would be 14" tall. I want driftwood in there with moss attached, anubias and other low light types.

I dont know if anyone has used those kind. Is your hood incandescent now on your 30g? I dont think they would cover the tank width...
