I just got my first unit today. It's the 20 watt version. I'll be wiring it up in a few minutes. Less than 2 weeks to ship from Hong Kong to Canada. Pretty impressive. Hopefully I got the right colour. There is no markings on the unit at all.
I got a set of three 20 watt ~6500K LED floodlights for my 6x2x2. Good price and fast postage from an eBay seller in Hong Kong.
I set my camera to the same exposure (F3.5 1/30 ISO800) for the following three shots which may give some idea of the relative brightness. The first pic is with a 6' fluorescent T8 on. I set the exposure to try to get it to look more or less as it does in person. It's close but the shadows aren't quite as dark.
T8 fluorescent, 60 watts total.
The three 20 watt LEDs by themselves.
Fluorescents and LEDs on at the same time.
Pretty happy with the LEDs, I don't think I'll be buying fluorescents ever again.
Can give a more detailed write up if anyone's interested.
Burto, do you have the units sitting right on the glass?
I just wired up one of the same units. Pics will be up shortly. I think I may order another 20 and a 30 watt for the 130. I might need more light for the field of lotus that I have planned for the tank.
sonycrr, I'm not surprised you didn't like the lights. Reef lighting just doesn't look right over a freshwater tank. It's not the lights fault, you just pick the wrong type of unit.
Here's some pics of my light. I only ordered one to start. I wanted to make sure the supplier was able to send the proper colour. It arrived in under 10 working days. The pics are of it on my 130. I took a few of it over each section. I think I'll like the look of them all quite a bit.
The first picture is of the tank with the main lights on plus the LED on the right end. The following pics are the light in the center and left end with no other lights on.
