has anyone used any of the led llights available with success in either planted or reef tanks. not that the tank looks good but that growth has occured and health is maintained in either coral or plants.

well if they dont work then it wont matter how cheap they get. someone on here must use one and have an opinion about it.

i doubt it. not too many people have have $2k to drop on a 4ft LED fixture. the LED fixtures that are capable of growing plants or corals are VERY expensive right now. most will be waiting for the price to drop before jumping on the bandwagon

I have 2 of the biggest marineland LED's on my 125g. I think I found them for $150-160 a piece. My idea around them was saving money, cost a bit more to purchase but, save more money in the long run. I currently have about 7 anubius plants and duckweed right now, they all are growing good, as of this morning, 5 of my anubius have grown new branches and 4 of them were split off of other anubius. I purchased 4, split 3 of them, now i have 7.
I wasn't to sure if they would grow plants so I grabbed some plants that are easy to grow. I don'l think these will have the right spectrum for plants that need alot of light. Hope this helps.

those lights are nice, but they are not even considered low light. they are very very low light. they wont grow any plant species that requires medium to high light

Anubius works fine, I don't regret my purchase either but, I guess it all depends on what type of plants your getting right??? I like that fact that I don't have to buy bulbs every year, watt useage is low and they're supposed to last atleast 5yrs. So, these light are perfect for what I want.

true, it all depends on what you want to grow. although you could grow anubias with a $10 light fixture from lowes :) i do love the shimmering effect you get from LEDs though
