You will spend close to maybe even more building your own LED light source....but it will be custom. Buying one will come finished and ready for the consumer...with a warranty.
I have built many LED panels for lighting and without proper knowledge on construction, where and what to get, even how to solder, a project can get a little out of hand. Research and watch YouTube vids....seriously...my first Cree LED build was from a guy on YouTube.
