leeches

today i was cleaning my filter and noticed little clear jelly blobs shaped like a kidney bean and about the size of a catfish pellet what do you think?

Sounds like leeches possibly. Is your tank a native tank?

i once brought some fish in from the wild that had leaches or something all over them. the leaches ended up killing them so watch out

it sounds like an inert bi-product from anaerobic bacteria its harmless... a sure sign that filter needs more frequent cleaning?

Clear jelly beans? Look closely and I bet you will see small clear dots in them. They are probably pond snail egg masses. Here is a picture.

thats the one i researched and i think its the eggs to the gilled snail

This is a picture of leeches, if you poke them they contract. Snail eggs of several types of snails look like clear jelly beans including small ramshorn and american pond snails.

oh thats cleared that up then so i wont have to worry about it now
