I just got my baby reds today and dropped a leech in there just to see how they would react. When i stepped away for a few minutes and then came back i couldn't find the leech. If it is still in there will it be able to harm the reds in any way?

Its probably gone, fish love leeches. Im sure any healthy fish would get it before it could burrow. drop more in and watch.

i think it may have burrowed because when i was watching them go at it they would go 1 at a time and the leech would usually escape and swim away then they would go back to it a few moments later

all it takes is a couple seconds for a soft food like that to disappear once they all commit to eating it. a lot of the times, they will kind of "play" with their food, one or two fish will dash in and nip at the food, then dash away, as soon as they commit, all or most of them will attack and the food item will be gone...

shoulda came with a disclaimer " don't try this at home "

what's next on the menu - a Lamprey with flukes on the side?

LOL!!!!! Thats pretty good man. I am sure they ate it, but you never know!!!!!

chances are he got it at a bait store and there im preety sure they sell the none bloodsucking kind (they are just a black flattened worm with a suction cup basicaly)

unless the bottom of your tank is mud i dont think they can burrow
