As a kid I too had 2 caimans, black or spectacled, not sure. They used to sell chopped horse meat to feed 'em at the pet shop then. I made a pond for them and gave them goldfish and whatever small fish I caught fishing to feed them. One caught a sparrow and dragged it into the pond, after the 3rd. day, nothing but feathers left.. A little later on in the 60's I got walking catfish (c. batrachus) in both natural brown and the albino's at the LFS and other species now banned. I also found and kept what were then very rare red tail cats and an unknown oddball that turned out to be a jau cat plus a pseudopimelolid species I haven't seen since. I kept many native species like bass, catfish, sunfish and carp that I caught fishing and brought 'em home in a bucket or wet burlap sack. Doing that today, of course is highly illegal here, sad to say...
