It might be more constructive to possibly list the pros and cons of each. Just a thought...

Pros: Deregulate the law and make people purchase permit to own snakehead and annual renewal fee like dog license. Make people take a 4 hours course about how snakehead post a risk to the environment then if they can pass a 25 questions test with a score of 80% of higher they will earn a permit. The money collected for snakehead permit will be donated to maintaining the wild life. Ban certained species and not all specy.

Cons: The habitat will always post a risk of since there will always be irresponsible fish keepers. Punish irresponsible pet owners not the rest of the population.

This is just my opinion and it's a win-win for everyone.

I don't need to say which i voted for

Snakeheads shouldn't be illegal, permits are needed more for other fish but aren't a bad idea for northern and giant snakeheads there are dozens of large tropical fish that could pose a serious threat to our enviorment in many places and theres also Dozens of invasive species realeased into the wild all the time Florida is a fine example of this yet these fish draw very little attention. Channa got such a bad rap because of the media and got people all worked up about them and got them to think they were all in danger and they are going to destroy the entire countries enviorment and we have to do what ever it takes to destroy these evil creatures which led to pollatitions being forced to do something to make the people happy and so they all got banned

i agree & disagree.
Being that i have been in the business long time & was also a animal warden for a few years & had to deal with released reptiles etc.. Being up here in the north most tropical will not survive a freeze here, but people still do stupid things no matter what.
the permit maybe one thing but the gov will end up using it for something else like war or bail outs etc.. ? then more noses in peoples lives.

I have said this many times, it has to stop at the starting point! I maybe a rare case being in this business to go against the grain. The importers/exporters, wholesalers to the retailers. You stop or put limits or license at the beginning it will make less available for the general public & being sold at Walmart etc.. yes the price of the animal or fishes will cost more but if someone is willing to spend $ & give it what it needs and they have resources to do so then let them. If its little Johnny wanting to put one in his first ten gallon then no!
See there are some in the business making a buck now & dont care about what happens later. or to trap the first timer in getting the little pacu knowing that in six months they will come in and buy a 20 gallon tank because it out grew the 10. & so on & so if you get my point until little johnny can not get any bigger tank & nobody wants his now whale of a fish so the next humane thing to do is to release it back in nature and be free! NOT! I have and will refuse to sell certain fish know most can not keep them! Even if I have something like Emperors etc. I will not sell them if the buyer has a small tank.
anyway
my 2 cents.

Sorry, I think they are evil. I had one bite the crap out of my hand I will never own one again.

Truly a Devil Fish

It's evil because it bit you? I have been bitten by Red Devils, Vieja, Largemouth Bass, Peacock Bass, my Oscar jumped out the tank and hit me in the chest and has bitten me several times. I don't think the legality of an entire genus hinges on whether we have been bitten by them.

I admit that I would like them to be legalized just because they seem like awesome fish to have. But I'm at the point that I accept what ever is illegal will be illegal.
