These types of discussion are silly but sometimes fun. After years of fishing all over the world I would add one thing of which i am certain, pound for pound salt water fish are typically much stronger and meaner than fresh water fish.

I'll agree to this, I remember at my cousins house down in North Carolina I did some fishing with him and we were using at least a 10" Rapala lure. I asked what are we fishing for and his reply was "bait fish". From then on I bow my head to the saltwater fishermen

If you ever get to fish for a Giant Trevally be prepared to have a 50lb fish rip your arms out of their sockets.

I'm just wondering how many of you have ever even seen a snakehead? Most of them are pretty mild mannered and like to hide. Other than the giant, they aren't that big of a deal.

i see them every time i walk down stairs or up them lol.

mild mannered they are but if you think about it how many monsters aren't ?? for example my goonch doesn't move more than a square foot of tank space even though he has 6 square ft to play with, he doesn't need to he can sit there and let everything come to him. SH are the same until feeding, but when food, a threat or even movement on top of the tank the SH is a different beast altogether. no food or disruption they sit on their spot until they need air then they hit the top and back to watching their area. the thread is really irrelevant because on any given day the results would be different.

when it comes to true monster fish i do not even put fish like cichlids in the same world as them, look into a devils mouth or dovii even then a wolf fish or goliath tiger they are something on a total nother level. The same level id put as piranha. CIchlids are like g0ldfish almost yes they are my fave of them all but they arent on their level I think it is cruel keeping them with fish who have huge teeth like others. EVEN IF A CICHLID CAN KILL A LONE RED BELLY by using its brains. IVe seen crows kill hawks using their brains as well as ravens.

i wouldn't say the dovii is a big killing machine, my point was SH are more intelligent and efficient in what they do, why burn energy when they can hit hard and fast once. and my other point was your OP made it sounded like your friend had said it was a matter of fact that a snakehead had taken out a goliath ( i don't own one so use a dovii as its worth nothing talking about a fish i have never kept) if this was the case then it would depend on circumstance rather than a blanket thing, and there may be other factors in play for that to happen.

in a fish vs fish scenario outside of nature it will come down to who has the biggest advantage. and with most of the more exotic fish we keep water quality is the key, SH will have the advantage because if you are too busy watching to see who will kill who water quality will drop and the other fish will be distress while the SH keeps breathing air and sitting happy eventually the SH will be the only fish and will win hahahahaha

Everyone has to be just a little curious i mean after i saw that wolf fish tear that poor walking catfish apart so easy like it was nothing shocked me! I cant see how a snake head or any fish is going to get around that unless they are so big they could eat it.

When i was a kid i had a crazy overetocked tank all sort sof crap in there oscars, jd, gar, and so on. Like an idiot i picked up two snake heads (no internet back then) one was called a redline SH the other was labeled an african SH have no idea what species they actually were. Once they hit the 7 or 8 inch mark, then went berserker killed every single fish i had.

Ive never seen aggression like that from any other aquarium fish
