lego safe as onraments?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
ive actually read other posts from people using them as DIY bioball substitute, since they have a good amount of surface area in a small size ... apparently it didnt kill the fish of the guy who posted about it

since you dont need them to grow bacteria, i would deffinately silicone them or something, just in case

If you're worrying about them breaking apart you could always try some clear marine epoxy (kind used in potable water tanks). Wouldn't look quite authentic, but if you're looking for peace of mind...

I used lego to make a bouyancy block to hold one of my guppy breeding boxes up. The suction cups came lose so I use lego to keep it afloat and it worked like a charm.
Although the addition of lego to be used as a decorative item would surely make your tank appear like it was decorated by a 5 year old.

lol!

I think the lego idea is creative though. It would depend on what kind of lego build would go in there. If it's some bright colorful basic build, then yeah it will look like your kid made it for the tank.

some people (those artistic types) can build some pretty impressive things out of legos. I definately wouldn't judge until I saw what he was putting in. Hell, it could be for a five year old.

Should be safe as long as you haven't got a large RTC that misstakes it for food........lmao

have heard other people did similar, it would make for a neat tank for a kid (or kid at heart) but like others said silicone the pieces together and silicone it to a base of slate or the likes...the bottom sides of the legos might be a hazard because of the cavities in it and they might be a bit 'sharp' for a fish. So if there are any pieces that have the underside exposed I would put silicone in the cavaties so there are no sharp edges.
GL and take a pic when your friend is done! I would love to see the creation!
Hugs
