my lei hasn't really eaten in about a week. i got him about 8 days ago. for the first few days i had him, he hid under the sponge filter. he's been swimming around actively for a couple of days now. i've tried feeding the aro FD krill, market shrimp, pellets and now i'm trying blood worms. the water is very clean and the temp is around 82. what should i do? should i be worried?

when i got mines from rich it ate 6 hours later o.o hmm try cricket

you should get cricket arows can resist live flowting food if that dosent work then i wouldent no wat to do

Make sure your water is clean (sometimes it looks clean, but may not be clean - weekly 30%-40% water change), boost your tank temp and maintain it in 84-86 will help. Make sure to provide a lot of oxygen when you keep tank temp in high range, and cover your tank well. Aro will be very active in high temp, so jumping can occur. Drop your tank water level as low as you can to prevent it hit his head on the lid, which could kill itself. BTW, get some live blackworms and feed him with them, until he eats consistently, then you can switch him to dried freeze krill, or market shrimps.

thanks. i do water changes pretty often. i'm increasing the temp slowly to 84. the water level is about 4 inches below the lid. i guess i could go lower the next time i do a water change. i won't offer him food until monday morning or sunday night at the earliest in hopes that he gets hungry and decides to eat what i give him.

thanks again

i offered the lei some live bloodworms today and he ate them. i also tossed in a small betta from my betta fry grow out tank, but the betta is still hanging out with the lei. this is one weird aro... at least he's eating

Not every aro will eat live fish :grinno: I picked up three Leis from Rich Sunday, and they ate for me in less than 24 hours, Hikari sticks, frozen dried krills, and even market shrimps chop into small pieces. Leis brought in by Rich has been known eating as pig, so give him sometimes, and he'll eat for you. Just don't get him used to eating live feeders, then you'll be in big trouble to get him off :D Good luck and keep us posted!

wow john. u have become a fish professional hahaha. good advice. and did u get that 3 deal from rich too??? i went for one got tricked into 3 hahah
