why are you making it 4ft tall? make it 4ft wide then you'll be able to displace more of the weight, and it opens up your options for fish. 4ft tall is going to be ridulous to clean.

it going to be 4ft wide

From my experience and research. They are extremely territorial with conspecifics. And thats about it. But they are true predators like all large pims. So anything that can fit in its wouth it will eat. The heads are slightly more narrow than L. longibarbus (i know thats not the right name any more, but i cant remember how to spell the right one). So i dont think youd have problems with having stingrays especially with as wide as it will be.

Sorry for the confusion. But most of the dimensions are given as LxWxH not LxHxW.

Based on what ground someone can make the statement that a 6x2x4 is "fine" "upstairs"?Not every house is framed the same (2x10, 2x12, 16"o.c., 20" o.c, etc), at least make sure that the long side is orientated perpendicular to the floor joists, direction wise. If the carpenter was cutting corners when doing the framing (which you don't know unless you were there) all bets are off. Reinforcing the floor (or at least getting a structural appraisal) seems the smart thing to do when adding something that heavy.
