I dont think that they are illegal because I have seen them a couple of times at an LFS. I believe they are an Australian arowana, not South Amercian

I disagree, the leichardti is less agressive than the jardini in my experience. I've had jardinis half the size of my leichardti that were more aggresive than it. It also depends on the individual fish, but I've had two jardinis that killed more fish than my larger leichardti who has yet to kill.
