hey all. i am getting a 8x3x2 with a total of 350 US gallons, and a sump of 140 gallons. plus a diy canister (bout 40 gallons) and a fluidized bed filter.

my questions are

can i have 2 leichardts?
how quick do they grow (i want them in a 5foot befor the aussie fish breading season is over
are they easily trained on pellets and how do i get them on pellets?

hey mate, be carful with getting 2 togas, as thgey might fight, but im sure if u add them at the same time (as u r goin to do) they will tolerate each other. and to get them on pellets, just start out feeidng them on pellets as they should just take them, and if they dont, just keep trying even if they starve a bit, eventually they will eat the pellets and like them. thats what i did with my jardini, and he loves pellets now, along with other live food.

They are not going to breed in a tank if thats what you are hoping. Leicharti`s will need at least 10m from the nearest shore to feel secure enough to breed in my experience. If you do have enough room, they are easy to breed though. Plenty of people breed them in backyard dams. (Jardini are much harder.)

oh no not breeding i want a leich community, but how do u sex leichahrdts or do u shove heaps toigether and wait for them to pair up?

You'll probably need at least 5 aros to get away with having multiple aro's in the same tank. You could try it but I would only do it on a day you can keep an eye on them all day and move one to anther tank if problems occur, changes are it will not work.

k thanx everyone also ae they easy to wean onto pellets?

Mine ate pellets right out of the bag, actually it was about 9-10 hours after I got them out of the bag before I tried to feed them hikari food sticks which they ate. Feed them cut up market shrimp last night and they ate that also.

ur tank is definitely big enough, i would, however, recommend against having 2 lei in one tank. u would rather have 3+ if u want an aro community tank, cuz if the 2 u put in the tank do not pair up or are the same sex, then there's a big chance that they'll destroy e/o.
these aros grow at a pretty fast rate, my jar got to 15" from 4" in just a yr, and that's not even the fastest growth rate. if u keep 'em on live food, they'll grow even faster.

and about the pellets, i had trouble getting 'my jar to eat 'em at first, but just like the others have said, stop feeding the aros for a while, starve 'em a little if u have to, and they'll come to love pellets eventually. not hard at all

mine aint a jar im gettin a lei, but there is no way im having 3
theres no point imo. im actually considering uping the tank to 10x3x2.5 but that would have to be ply un less someone wants to build it. i asked my aquarium builder he said no way
