there has been rumors of very few individuals breeding FRTs in the states. However they were never validated offically. Rumors.... thats alll we might never know if it's true or not.

Lets put it this way, the agression frts have towards each other is like trying to get 2 rhoms to breed. While its possible it takes the know how and resources (tank space).

I have kept FRT's together - the key is to keep them CONTENT. Not just "healthy" but attend to their every "wish and whim" and they get along very well.

Anybody buy 'em yet?

there nice turtles-yes, would i or should anybody waste 20 grand on them-hells no. There are so many ways that kind of money would be better spent than on an animal, i can just imageing a person from a 3rd world country who got on a computer for the first time and came across this thread would feel, they don't have food but people here want to buy $20,000 turtles:screwy: cool turtles, but not worth it.

I'll bet 5 grand you don't sell those turtles for 20 grand.

Big Brother deleted my last post about these turtles, so i'll say the opposite in this thread: I think these turtles are a fantastic deal (dripping with sarcasm), I would much rather have these turtles than take a summer vacation to italy or hawaii. Only a fool would rather spend 20 grand on a boat or a car than on these turtles. A smart person with little money should buy these turtles.

Not to start an argument but if you have 20k for turtles then you already went to hawaii and have everything else you want or hawaii/boats/cars don't matter. Yes there are people with that much money..

there doesnt need to be this argument about the cost of these turtles. as with any rare thing, it demands a high price. Just look at ball pythons, and the morphs they have. Some of those snakes cost 20 grand, and yet people buy them still. FRT's are awesome turtles, i wish i could afford a regular one, nevermind a leiucistic one. People with money are gonna buy what they want, and its just like with any other collectable or hobby, if someone wants it, then to them no matter what the cost it it may seem like a good deal.

Hell even look at plain old albino leopard geckos, these cost like $20 as babies right now at every petco in the world. 10 years ago, they were 10 grand! People still bought them, bred them, and now they cost 20 bucks.

Just wish it was as easy to breed frt as it is leopard geckos hahaha

People who collect certain things will pay... Some of us have very expensive fish. Turtles are no different.

^ this is absolutely true. There are wealthy folk that would laugh at $20,000

There's only a couple people in the world that can laugh at 20 grand. Most wealthy people obtain their wealth by being smart and not throwing away 20 grand on some turtles. by the way, if these turtles were such a great deal, how come they haven't sold yet?

Well I figured I would add my two cents, there is people in todays world that can afford to buy these turtles and if thats what floats their boat then more power to them, however IF it is illegal to keep or sell or trade these turtles then this thread should not even exist according to MFK policy on state restricted speceis, now if it is legal to keep and sell and what not then it doesnt make it wrong just becouse we cant all afford them, everyday I come online and see beutiful tanks that would look great in my dinning room yet just cuz I cant afford it, it doesnt make someone else dumb for buying it. to each his own I say they are awsome looking turtles I have only seen the regular FRT and have always wanted one but cant afford one so I dont have one but hope to one day, as for these in my opinion I would not value their rarity enough to spend this amount even if I had the means too.
