Don't know if their legal or not but you can catch them on hook and line all over the everglades.

yeah they are legal to have depending where you are. In florida its ok. i had a 13inch one that i kept till it attacked my RTC. You can catch them all over the state. The hit cut bait the best. I hit a bunch last week. They kept hitting the line every 10 mins.
