Lookin good guys, figured id post my old EBJD. Got him 5 years ago or so at 1inch then he got beat up really bad, i nursed him back to health in a solo tank, tried to breed him, but the other JD did not like him apparently. He died 2 years ago or so.

Pic at 2.5 inches and then 5.5 inches.

Just got a new EBJD, Ill post pics eventually..

No clue why my pics were added weird.

WOW! He is a stunner!

i myself started out with 6. i am now down to 2. for a while i felt like i could've done more to keep them alive. But in the end they are a fragile bunch, and i think thats what makes them that much more special. if you can keep one that matures into an adult, then you'll have a specimen you can be very proud of. Ill keep my fingers crossed.

Aquataholic, how long did it take for him to reach 5.5 inches? And nice fish by the way :)

Couple of years, my EBJD was severely beat up by another cichlid when i first brought it home, all scales were removed and fins. there was a lil white moving thing in my tank when i noticed(that was the EBJD)..i figured it would die, but quarantined (except his angel pleco i believe it was)..him for about 8 months and he came back stronger than ever. I was told by about half dozen people to throw away the dead white fish in my tank, but i stuck with it, and he turned out great.

Thank you his name was Blue.

I have 2 right now...but one isn't lookin so hot/
He had a stringy white poop which made me think internal parasite other than that he was totally fine...then for the last two days he has been lethargic eats well but isn't as active as normal and verrrry dark in colour

I believe that means it has hexamita. Pls see link below.

Internal Parasites:cry:. I had the same problem with my fish and treated them with Maracyn along with medicated food. They made a full recovery. I found that its better to catch the illness early when they are still eating. Once they have stopped eating its harder to treat them with the medicated food. I also have continued feeding them the medicated food along with there regular food, in hopes of preventing future outbreaks. Can someone tell me if this is wise? So far its worked for me.:nutkick:

Probably my most favorite fish of all time, I cannot wait till I can get a tank thats big enough for a couple of them, whats decent price range for them btw? my lfs is selling 1.5" ones for 25$ a piece.
