I am torn between two sizes of tanks for the new stingray tank we are planning. I am planning on doing two motoro stingrays (start as pups and grow them out).

The tank that will fit the space the best is:

108" x 36" x 30" (L x W x H)

I am concerned 36" is not going to be wide enough long term. I can not go 48" wide real easily but I might be able to squeak in 42" wide this would mean I would need to go a foot shorter due to how it would sit in the house.

The wider tank would be:

96" x 42" x 30" (L x W x H)

What do you guys think? Reasons for one over the other? Or would both work equally as well?

You can vote for both in the poll if you think both would work equally as well. If you think one over the other please only pick that one.

Thanks!

i would get the first tank . my reason would be it fits better and it's only 6 inch narrower which isn't a big deal since it's already wide enough at 36".

i dont have rays but wider is better

I'd get the first one, it is a tad bit more surface area and I'd opt for the most surface area if you have rays.

The second actually has just under 4% more surface area ;)
Tough choice but personally I'd get the wider tank.

Or option 3, knock down a wall somewhere and have a 12'x4' tank :D

Random thought but staying 24" tall should mean thinner acrylic (I guess I'm assuming acrylic here) and significantly cheaper tank.

first one

36 wide is to small for motoro

my old tank was 32 wide and had 16 inch disk p14s in and it was way to small
