Dude calcisand is even worse:eek: that thing can compact inside your lizard´s body like cement:nilly:serial medical trobleship can follow. If you insist on using sand get some normal play sand. As for your tank I bet that in a weekend serch you can get a much bigger tank allmost for free. Places like garage sales, Ebay, etc. I dont know What you have you been reading but I would be suspicious after that, I mean it cant even acomodate the 4 hiding places you need;)

ya play sand is 4 bucks a pound
and for the 125 u spent on ur two geckos could have gotten you a 20 gallon saltwater setup with two clownfish.
its not as expensive you think to get smaller fish
just the equipment and the larger or more rare fish that can cost about 60 bucks.
but since the movie finding nemo everyone wants a clown
the average i find them at is about 16 for false and 22 for true perculas
im thinking about setting up a 20g salt again
at a time i was all saltwater

The sand i have is so fine that impaction is almost impossible. Hell it says right on it that it's recommended for leopard geckos. I mean I know it's not the most reliable source, but if it's bad for them, it'd be false advertising and they'd likely be out of business now.

As for clowns, its the equipment i can't afford. but the clowns at the pet stores in my area are about the same prices as the geckos. Also I don't have the experience/time/means to monitor salinity and all that jazz. Yeah they're marine, but this school focuses on local species mostly. But most of all, herps just interest me more.

If its calci sand it doesant mater how fine it is, it would be digested, the individual grains fuse thogeter and that thing becomes cement:crazy: And they wont be out of business, many animals can live on that and even if it was crap then they maybe still would survive. The pet trade is full of things that are complete peaces of useless junk but that have lasted(ex: thouse litle turtle tubs with a litle plastic palm in the midle, herp leaches(my favorite are the anole leaches from t. rex:screwy:), hot rocks ,vitamin sprays, corn knobs substrate ,etc). Some are good ideas such as pelleted food for some herps like iguanas, bearded dragons, etc but most are in need of years to perfect:grinno:

Well ****. I can't exactly run out and buy ANOTHER substrate and replace it. I've only had em for a week and I can't afford to stress them out any more

hey man are they eating yet?
and don't worry i had the same feeling when i found out i couldn't handle my gecko that often...lol
well look at it on the bright side, at least you don't have a chameleon ;)

Jfitz - funny. we almost got chameleons XD

TheMightyOscar - No, I don't think it looks good. I want as natural as possible.
