Leo flipping over

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
tank is a bare bottom and they rip flesh off...

That's why I need to catch them fast enough. They rub and rub on the bottom trying to turn back over.

You should contact your city water department. They have to, by law, make daily, weekly and monthly water analysis. They test EVERYTHING. If there is metals or dissolved solids they will show up in these tests. The tests are EPA standards for potable municipal water. The results should be free.
Good Luck.

I once had a friend bring me a sick Leo that did this days before he died. One thing I noticed is that it also became blind. Look at your rays eyes and see if there is any blood in there. It sure sounds like it is very ill to be acting that way. I'm pretty sure it's due to water quality due to the fact that this has happened to more than just one of your rays. How often do you do water changes and how much do you change? Good luck , hope it works out for you.

another thing is find out anyother local ray ekeepers, see wat there using fer filtraiton (carbon etc) and match that. if they dont have this problem with the same media it may be your own pipes and not local water

i agree i would install sediment and carbon blocks on your line that you use for water changes and also add good carbon to your filter... hydrocarbon is good so is matrix carbon from seachem.... i personally run chemi pure on my systems...

bump for a cure

Was this issue resolved? Did the Ray stop flipping? Concerning municipal water, not to scream conspiracy or anything, but if a substance in the water is not harmful to humans than they do not have to disclose its presence in the water.

If it is not city water, and you have a well, do you treat for heavy metals?
