Okay, so I have 2 leos, a male and a female, each in their own separate tank. My male is doing wonderfully. He's big and heavy and has a nice fat tail. He's active and friendly, and overall a very happy lizard.

My female on the other hand, not so much. She's underweight (not to the point of danger....yet), with a thin tail and she's much smaller than the male, even though they're roughly the same age. I've had them for about a month now and all she does is hide in one spot. She doesn't eat or come out except to soak up some heat from the night light. She won't even switch to the other hide in her tank. She doesn't seem to be drinking much either, but that could just be me not seeing her.

They're fed mostly on crickets with occasional waxworms. The male isn't picky and will take the food either on his own or from the tweezers. The female won't take them from the tweezers at all and very rarely pays attention to free prey. I just tried to force feed her and even that didn't work. I held her mouth open and put the waxworm in, and she did bite it a few times, but then she just held it in her mouth and eventually dropped it.

PLEASE HELP ME!

Here's some pics. The first one's the healthy male and the second is the underweight female.

are they kept in the same tank? there might be some bullying going on that you dont see. she might be stressed out because of this.

No, they're separated. They were together for about a week since i didn't have another tank, but they've been separate for a while. They'll go back together for breeding in January, if she's healthy enough

The female really isn't that skinny....yet. I'm just curious but do you know how old they are? What are the temps on the hot end/cold end like?

They're 9 months old, according to the pet store (but who knows. he got everything else about them wrong). I dont have thermometers on the hot ends yet, but the cold ends are between 78˚ and 82˚, depending on the temp of room. He goes back and forth but she tends to stay in the middle but slightly toward the hot end.

id add more hide spots for her. check your hot end temps... what kind of substrate do you have? maybe add a cottage cheese container with moist moss in it. just a hole at the bottom cut out for her to climb in. this will help with shedding, help her get moisture when she needs it, and serve as another hide. force feeding her will stress her out more so stop it. make sure when you feed that you take out all crix and stuff that she doesnt eat. dont leave them in by her. if you put food in, and she seems disinterested take it out right away. leos are nocturnal so try feeding at night...........just some ideas
