I just talked to my exporter, who got on the phone with his collector in Iquitos.. They both agreed that what was said is not true?

I also found out this today too..

FishExporter: he gave me another good news, Tigrinus and Alianzas(juruense) and Red Hook Metyn(silver dollars) it is not more banned,
FishExporter: I explain
FishExporter: when my people will buy those fish from the fisherman, the fisherman will give a ticket, that ticket will be the valid paper to make Origin Certificate and make those fish LEGAL
FishExporter: each fisherman have a quota
FishExporter: after that fisherman sold all the fish that he can sell.. then those fish are again banned



Perhaps this is what we are talking about with the Ban of Stingrays in Peru? Perhaps ticketed Quotas?

I've been following this situation as well. Other than what is posted, I've got nothing by way of extra info at this point, but I'm staying with it. Loss of the export ability really has a negative effect on the zoo world, too.
 
I guess its time for breebers to step up. I would much rather see captive specimens on the market.
 
i have only seen a few black rays for sale this year in LFS

I know DW is taking steps towards a similiar operation, hopefully he might share his secrets someday and I can breed a few beasties on this west coast over here :)

I would love to breed all of the peruvian Motoro variants :grinyes:

The problem is that most zoos don't often have their own staff collecting. Mostly we rely on the same collectors that the pet trade uses.
 
I once posted about ray farms in Thailand. There are bunch of motoro pubs in the market. Polkadot and Pearl's pubs are still a short supply. But a good thing is they are coming out more. One breeder here has 20 pearl pubs out in the last 5 weeks.
