I would recommend removing alot of that sand. Very easy to get a build up of bad bacteria in a thick bed of sand.

Thanks but no thanks, been keeping rays for years, have several now in multiple tanks all with nice sand beds.
Never had any issues with water quality at all.

Theres a difference between cheap set ups and doings the right way.
