I have a 3.5" leopard ctenopoma that was great for a while. He began to bully a 2.5 inch severum who is a weenie. I figured it would resolve when the severum well outgrew him. Well now all of a sudden he is going after others such as my african knife and rainbow cichlids. Him and the rainbow were hanging almost in a pack for a while. He really goes after them when he does. It's not a territorial thing he ventures out to bully I have never heard of them being this bad.

I have bad luck with labyrinth fish. I had a gold gourami I had to get rid of. He was about 5 inches. The pet store I gave him too put him with oscars that were a bit bigger. They stayed pinned in one corner all the time.

My guy loved to pick fights, and he was by far the smallest fish in the tank. Try putting a mirror in there, mine used to love to fight himself. Sometimes its just their nature, any time I removed him (usually to heal) he would become depressed and sit in the corner and refuse to eat, I think he enjoyed having a death wish.

Mine is about 6" long, one of the biggest I've ever seen. He can and does win fights against datnoids bigger than him.
