leopard gecko subtrate

Is it just me or do those leopard geckos look kind of skinny in the photos? Well I guess if they were dumb enough to eat sand it would make them that way.

like i was saying, unhealthy leos will eat sand. so will beardies. they are trying to make up for a defincency in something. it would be interesting to know how these were cared for and what their diet was. as well as temps and what not. a healthy lizard with good husbandry isnt gonna go around eating mouthfuls of sand

Yep I agree. And like I've mentioned, I have a 16 year old pair of leopard geckos who have been on sand since they were 8 months old and they are still doing great and laying eggs. But I for one don't recommend sand unless you are willing to clean it and change it often. There are far more easier substrates that you can use instead.
 
i think we should just go bare bottom like we do in our fish tanks sometimes!!!!!! cant get any safer then that right? lol
