Unfurnatly no details were aded regarding the specific condicions in wich the animal was being kept. All I know is that it was a female, 3 years old and lived on sand. A sad ending for a fine young gecko:cry:
 
In my opinion sand is fine for leos 6inches and up. They can usually digest it better than juviniles. Don't use calci sand!!! It's large particles make it hard to digest if ingested. Use play sand it's way cheaper and it's smaller particles make it easy to ingest. Paper towels and reptile carpet are good substrate for leos no matter what size. Alot of people might disagree with me about the sand but I have kept leo for a wjile and they are still very much healthy.
