No they don't need that much humidity. Just have a humid hide and mist it everyday and you should be fine.

Also, to utilize the space in the 20g, you can use a clear "turtle ramp and dock", a repti-hammock, anything similar, or make your own ramp and platform. Essentially this makes part of the enclosure two stories.
