Leo's Spots Smearing

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Sure hope it isn't a sign of anything awry. Hope someone has a good answer for you!

It happens from stress either infection/sickness,,, bad acclimations/deteriorating tank conditions,,, being attacked etc

either way alot of them dont make it once the spots shift.

some make it but it will take almost a year for the ray to appear normal again.

Hope that helps did a search and found that big water change and see whats stressing him/her out

Has anyone seen the spots on leos smearing before. Don't know what could have caused it and don't know how to treat it. Seeking advice.

This is Wild Caught from FRP? It's from stress bad conditions from exporter to seller more then likely the ray has hook in it and is stressed out from pain and not eating etc. This is why I keep any wild caught import for few weeks before selling to customers. If get them in ok they will do this within first week or two if there are problems. Nothing you can do add salt incase there is a hook in belly to help with any possible infection. Once they get this there is a chance it will go away but takes long long time. Good luck.

Oh... that looks quite nasty, should check your water parameters, a bit cloudy.

If hook is the reason (hope not) then the chances will be very slim. :(

Rays do pass the hooks thru if you can get them to start easting but I agree most of time they will die from the hook and stress. Did rays arrive with spot-shift and it will more then likely get worse.

Yeah, I have only seen a few rays (and a few sharks for that matter) pass or regurge hooks.... if that is the stress point for this animal.
