my henlei i got years ago had this bad it went away after about 8 months but he made it
 
8 months of stress for the ray and yourself :cry: i would go NUTS!

maybe you just bought a black ray and someone painted the spots on for more money. wish it was the case but he looks stressed.
 
i wouldnt consider this normal but its seems alot of wilod caught rays come in like this
ross even talks about it in the freaswater stingray book just try and keep her stress free
i wouldn't worry to much yet let her settle in

It's from stress bad conditions from exporter to seller more then likely the ray has hook in it and is stressed out from pain and not eating etc. This is why I keep any wild caught import for few weeks before selling to customers. If get them in ok they will do this within first week or two if there are problems. Nothing you can do add salt incase there is a hook in belly to help with any possible infection. Once they get this there is a chance it will go away but takes long long time. Good luck.

import would rather do a quick turn around and get the money. That way
they don't have the risk of taking a loss, they would rather the customer assume that role.
