lepard gecko help

I use sand but only on my two adults who have been on it for about 13 years. I have never had any problems with it but I also am a clean freak and I change it monthly. I have a moist humid hide for them to go in when shedding. I also check there toes to make sure they don't have any skin left on them after shedding.

I DO NOT recommend using sand with babies less then a year old because of the risk of impaction. I also feed my geckos in a plastic tub so the risk of ingesting sand while eating is lessened.

I keep all my babies on either reptile carpet or newspaper. I soak the reptile carpet in warm soapy water and the let it dry for a day before putting it back in the tank.

Anyone use that calci-sand? I would think it would cover the calcium need and also not cause impaction but I haven't used it personally...

The pet store I used to work at kept all of their desert reptiles (beardies, uros, and leopards) on calci sand and I definately would not recommend it. Especially for a non-adult. Personally, I'd probably never use sand although it does "look" good. It's a shame that numerous herps had to die at that store as a result of the owner wanting to sell more because the enclosures looked good.

thank you all for your responses! i will definetly go with the reptile carpet
just one more question...
how do yall keep your moss in your tank?
just laying on the ground.. or in an enclosed container with an opening?
