Hate to burst your bubble, but as they grow you’ll need a larger tank than 35G for the trio...
Also, because as they mature they need higher salinty levels, its best to keep them in marine conditions as adults and find them suitable tankmates at that point, if the tank is large enough...
This is if we are indeed talking about the T.nigroviridis that is...

Ok thanks for all the help I plan to add salt with every 10% water change and was wonder what size tank would I need for the 3
Also 2 are very active however 1 seems to be a little bit darker and brightens up at night is that normal
For tank size, they usually recommend min. 30G for a single fish, preferably 55G...
So for 3 to live comfortably and happily long term, i would suggest around 120G+, coz when fully grown, they can reach around 6” and would appreciate some space to move around in, while giving you plenty of options for breaking lines of sight...
This depends, puffers can be very moody critters and sometimes darker colors can mean they are stressed, but not always the case...
Normally i’ve noticed when this particular species is resting, they tend to get darker in color and lighten up when they are awake...
The other times they tend to be darker in color is when they are getting picked on or stressed out for some reason...
So with that being said, i would keep an eye out on the less active one to make sure hes eating propery and not getting picked on by the others...
coz imo, as long as hes not being harrassesd by the others and is eating fine, i would suspect hes possibly just a bit more moody compared to the other two in the tank...
if you plan on expanding then maybe monos would work? They might be agile enough not to be picked at by the puffers but I haven't kept them long term. Maybe someone with more experience would chime in.
Depends on the puffer really. Some do fine with other fish some not so much. Because like said above you'll need to keep them in full salt eventually maybe a nice school of chromis or other schooling damsel, talbots are sweet and I got them to breed multiple times for me.
Thanks for all the help my puffer passed away because of internal parasite but the other two are fine and I am starting to gradually add brackish water. I think part of the problem was they way Petco kept them there were a lot in one tiny tank and there was no salt also they were suggesting a species only tank and said 8 can go in a 30. I was questioning it right away because 8 7inch fish in a 30gal seems like a horrible way to keep fish. They had knight gobies and I was wondering if they could go with the puffers. I assume not but I thought I would ask. Thanks again
